Meet the Hosts of AudiologyTalk

The hosts of AudiologyTalk bring minutes of broadcast experience to the program, resulting in the distinct lack of professionalism that is the hallmark of our show. It is completely beyond us why anyone would actually want to learn MORE about these guys, but we provided a bit of background anyway. Warning: the following should not be read by the faint of heart - or those with high expectations.

John A. Coverstone, AuD
Board Certified in Audiology
John A. Coverstone, AuD received B.S. degrees in Speech Communication and in Speech & Hearing Science from Portland State University, an M.S. degree from Portland State University, and an AuD degree from PCO School of Audiology. Dr. Coverstone has previously worked in hearing instrument and medical equipment manufacturing and is currently the President and CEO of Sentient Healthcare, an audiology consulting company which includes Audiology Ear Care, a private audiology practice in New Brighton, MN. Dr. Coverstone is the educational audiologist for the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf over 30 schools around the State of Minnesota. Dr. Coverstone served as 2015 Chair of the Board of Governors for the American Board of Audiology (ABA). He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Academy of Audiology, for which he was President in 2012. Dr. Coverstone has additionally served as Chair of the ABA Marketing Committee, Chair of the American Academy of Audiology State Network Committee, (2007-2010), Chair of the American Academy of Audiology Governmental Relations Committee (2012-2014), Chair of the Minnesota Academy of Audiology Continuing Education Committee (2005-2006) and Finance Committee (2010-2013). Dr. Coverstone is active in legislative affairs, both in Minnesota and nationally, and continues to serve on the Governmental Relations Committee of the Minnesota Academy of Audiology. He is a former columnist for Feedback (now Audiology Practices) and is an occasional contributor to Advance for Audiologists magazine. He has also published in Audiology Today and the Hearing Journal. Dr. Coverstone is the 2008 recipient of the Audiology Foundation of America Professional Leadership award, 2012 recipient of the Minnesota Academy of Audiology Honors of the Academy and was given a Presidential Award from the American Academy of Audiology in 2014. From 1989-1991, Dr. Coverstone worked at KGON/KSGO (later KFXX), including hosting and producing a 1/2 hour weekly public affairs program in 1991 that ran on both stations. In his personal time, Dr. Coverstone enjoys spending time with his family, playing softball and golf, skiing, and working on home improvement projects.

Dean Flyger, AuD
Dean Flyger received his Bachelor of Science degree in communication disorders from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD in 1995, Master of Arts degree in communication disorders from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD in 1997, and AuD from Salus University in 2010. Dr. Flyger is a clinical Audiologist working within an otolaryngology/hearing clinic in Victoria, Texas specializing in audiologic evaluation of all ages, hearing aid dispensing and vestibular evaluation. Although he has no prior experience in broadcasting, Dean has enjoyed a diverse employment experience since graduation. He has enjoyed clinical audiologic work, audiologic equipment sales and training, clinical liaison and training responsibilities for OZ Systems newborn infant screening software and a short but enlightening stint with inter-operative neurologic monitoring during spinal or head/neck surgery. Dr. Flyger is an active member of the American Academy of Audiology and the Texas Academy of Audiology. His free time is divided between raising two beautiful children, doctoral studies and drumming with his blues/southern rock band. Dean also enjoys biking and golf on occasion when the oppressive south Texas heat will allow.

Mindy Brudereck, AuD
Board Certified in Audiology
Mindy Brudereck, Au.D., Board Certified in Audiology, is co-owner of Berks Hearing Professionals, LLC, a private practice in Berks County, PA. Prior to opening the practice in 2008, she was the Director of Audiology at an Otolaryngology practice. In addition to working at Berks Hearing Professionals, Dr. Brudereck has worked as a recruiter and adjunct faculty member at Salus University and a professor at West Chester University. Currently, Dr. Brudereck is the Chair of the Board of Governors of the American Board of Audiology and an Editorial Advisor for Audiology Today. Dr. Brudereck earned her B.S. in Communication Disorders at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, M.S. in Audiology at Towson University, and Au.D. at Salus University. She is a Past-President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology and has also served as Treasurer, Vice President of Professional Issues and Convention Co-Chair of PAA. She is the current Chair of Public Relations Committee for the American Academy of Audiology and has previously served on the Strategic Documents Committee, the JFLAC Selection Committee, and AN! Convention Committees. In 2008, she was one of sixteen audiologists chosen to attend the inaugural Jerger Future Leaders of Audiology Conference. Dr. Brudereck enjoys spending time with her two children as well as running, golf, and relaxing.
